Aruba: One Happy Island

Updated: Jun 19, 2024

Aruba is one of my favorites vacation destinations. Aruba has so much to offer and is perfect for any type of traveler. Whether your looking for beautiful sand beaches, adventure, romance, rest and relaxation, or a foodie looking for great eats, you can find it in Aruba.

Aruba is a friendly island that welcomes visitors, and the thing that stood out the most was how friendly the people were. It didn't matter where we went on the island, the people were warm and welcoming. Aruba is a melting pot of cultures, and most of the island residents speak multiple languages, including English. Though the official language is Papiamento, a blend of multiple languages that evolved over time into its own unique language.

The island boasts a variety of beaches. Some are beautiful, pristine white sand beaches with some of the bluest water you will see, and they are great for swimming. Others, you can only enjoy their beauty, for these beaches the surf is much too rough for swimming. Arashi Beach was one of my personal favorites. It is a white sand beach with beach huts, mild to modest surf, and great snorkeling. Being the avid swimmer I am, I love to getting out in the water to snorkel. There was diverse abundance of fish and aquatic life at Arashi. We saw schools of tropical fish in the hundreds. To this day, I credit Aruba for some of the best snorkeling I have experienced. Arashi Beach is also the perfect spot for soaking up the sun and for families. If you get there early, you can score a spot under one of the many the beach huts.

Eagle beach is another incredible white sand beach that was voted the #2 best of the best beaches in the Caribbean in 2024, and it is wonderful spot to watch the sunset. Baby beach is a unique beach with a protected bay and turquoise waters. There is so much diversity in the beaches on Aruba. Have fun exploring them all and find your favorite beach spot in Aruba.

If you are looking for adventure Aruba has that too. From kite surfing, diving or snorkeling shipwrecks, ATV off roading, and more. There is a lot to explore and see on the island. I love to explore and see as much as I can when traveling. One of the best spots you can only get to by ATV or horseback. On this trip, my boyfriend rented an ATV to explore Arikok National Park. We opted to rent our own ATV at a local rental shop rather than doing a group excursion. This was perfect way to see the park. We got to go at our own pace and see what we wanted to. There was so much to see in this desert landscape, including a couple of caves, one with Indian drawings, sand dunes, Dos Playa, and Boca Prins. Some of the other things on the island to see are the natural bridge, the different rock formations, the old gold mine and the light house.

I saved the best for last, the food in Aruba was incredible. There were so many great restaurants to choose from. We did not have one bad meal in Aruba. They were all fantastic. The diverse cultures in Aruba is on display in the wide variety of cuisine available. With over 250 restaurants to choose from, Aruba has become a foodie destination. My two favorite places we at were Barefoot and Quinta Del Carman. At Barefoot we had a fabulous beachfront, seafood dinner while watching the sunset. The setting could not have been more breathtaking. We were truly living the island life.

Quinta Del Carmen was also a very unique dinning experience in a 100 year old mansion. We sat in the mansion courtyard and had a fabulous dinner in the warm tropical air. It was a great atmosphere with exceptional food. We took this trip to Aruba several years ago, so I don't recall every restaurant we ate at; however, I recall thinking that it was some of the best dining with so many great options to choose from. Even the local casual dinning eateries we at were amazing.

I can't wait to go back to Aruba! If you have not experienced Aruba, I highly recommend it. Aruba - One Happy Island that has something for everyone and is truly an incredible vacation destination.
